We Have a House Guest
Spring Break
Warm weather. Sunshine. Playing outside. Does it get any better than this?

Xander getting ready for yet another slide. He alternates between lots of sliding and wanting Mommy to either swing with him or help him swing by himself. He's always very proud of himself when he's the one swinging.

Sawyer contemplating his chances of getting Mommy to swing him again.
Although, I must mention, my big boy actually did swing by himself today for about fifteen minutes (after I had put the camera away, of course). But he had one of the happiest smiles on his face that I think you will ever see. It's the one he has when he's swimming, something else he loves very much to do.
Today was a good day.

It's Hard to Be Me
Race cars. Every day. Swimming pools. Every afternoon. Popcorn and Coke (or actually, Pepsi, if I know Grandpa). Every single night. Undivided attention. All day, every day.
It's hard to be Connor right now, isn't it?
He's spending Spring Break with Grandma and Grandpa, having the time of his life and barely remembering us back at home. He spent a few days at their cabin at the lake, now he's in the mountains for a few days (hence the race cars and swimming pools), and tomorrow he will head back to the lake. He's definitely our world traveler, at all of four years of age.
He did condescend to say hello to his mother for a few minutes tonight on the phone, but only after some serious prompting from Grandma. His first response was,
"Not today."
Talking to Mommy is the first step toward coming home, you see. And he's not quite ready for that. Not today. Maybe not tomorrow or the next day. School doesn't start back until Tuesday, you know. He might be ready to come back for that.

Total Access
It seems nothing in our house is "out of reach" anymore. It used to be that it was perfectly safe to let the little guys up at whatever ungodly hour they decided it was time to be awake, turn on PBS and let them go (so that you could, ahem, go back to bed).
Today, it was about 7 a.m. for Sawyer, at which time he proceeded to kick on his door for release. After my busy weekend away, including staying up late and getting up early the day before I drove six hours in the truck, I was still tired. I went back to bed, and stayed there for quite some time. Josh got up just a little while later, when Xander woke up sometime after 8 a.m.
And what did he find downstairs this morning after a few hours of unsupervised play? Not much out of the ordinary. PBS was playing in the background, and Sawyer's favorite toys were scattered around the living and play rooms.
There was, however, the empty M&M dispenser sitting ominously on the dining room table.
You see, in my sleep-deprived haste this morning, I had opted against getting Sawyer his milk and dry cereal (their usual early breakfast). He apparently was hungry and decided M&Ms would work just fine. We're not sure, but we estimate there were maybe 30 left in the dispenser, as it was mostly empty (thank goodness).
Oh well, at least he didn't attempt to put them inside any body parts this time, right?
