A Day on the River

Beautiful summer day ... took two boys for an afternoon of kayaking on the river ...

Of course, Xander had to have the red canoe and the red paddle ...

And he took off (only his second time in a kayak) ...

Big brother was learning for the first time (and struggled to keep up with speedy little brother) ...

Beautiful horse farm views along the creek ...

Finally getting the hang of it and happier ...

Ready to turn back ...

We lasted a little over two hours, which is pretty impressive for Xander ...

Mommy loves being on the water, so it was a good day.

Pool Party

Daddy took the twins to a pool party for the evening. The boys loved trying out a new pool with big slides.

Summer Adventures

The twins are out with their CLS workers for the day, so Connor and I planned a little adventure of our own. We headed out to Raven Run for a little early summer hiking to the river overlook. It was a little hot, but at least not as crowded as the last time we came. We actually got to park in the normal parking lot, instead of the overflow grass field!

Connor was a bit tired by the time we made it to the overlook (and a bit overdramatic, as usual) ...

A little log climbing on the way back out ...

Summer Days ...

Another summer day, another day to find our way out onto the water. Xander was out with his CLS buddy Jack, and Aunt Kelly had the day off from Sawyer. So Connor, Sawyer and I went to Jacobson Park to play and spend some time on the paddle boats ...

A Day at the Pool

Grammy was nice enough to invite us out for the day at her club pool. The boys always have a great time swimming and playing.

And snacking, a lot of snacking ...

Sawyer trying out the new for this year slide in the family pool ...

It's early days yet, the pool was practically empty ...

Xander going off the newer slide ...

Splash ...

"Video" he asks, wanting to know if I got it all on video ...

Diving board fun ...

Connor's turn ...

Sawyer just likes to float, thanks ...

Connor being silly with Grammy's hat while cousin B looks on ...

A little basketball and dive sticks in the lap lane pool ...

Kayaking on the Creek

Today, Xander and I headed out for an adventure. Aunt Kelly had Sawyer, and Connor was at the lake with Grandma and Grandpa for a few weeks. So we got dressed in swimwear and shorts, loaded up a cooler, and headed out to Stoner Creek in nearby Paris. We had called ahead to reserve two kayaks for the afternoon.

Xander had been in a canoe with other people before, but never on his own. It was a quiet, low current section of the creek, and I thought he could learn. Ever the athlete, he picked it up in a matter of minutes.

A little back and forth until he got the hang of it ...

And he LOVED the train bridge just past the golf course ...

Say "cheese" and go under the stopped train ...

Getting a little tired, but pushing on (and amusing the residents along the bank who are hearing our back and forth about how much further we're going to go) ...

Seeing a turtle on sunning on the log ...

Xander leading the way (back to the launch, of course) ...

And back under the train bridge we go ...  a fun day on the water!

Memorial Day Weekend

Sunny skies and clear blue waters ... nothing better on an early summer day. The boys and I traveled to the lake to visit with Grandma and Grandpa over the long holiday weekend. Cousins A and K also made it down for the weekend.

It's a hard life we lead when this is our view ...

Mr. Cool ...

Ready to jump in ...

Swimming in the COLD water ...

Splashing on the back deck ...

Mr. Fearless, going in off the front ...

Riding for a little while ...

Climbing in for snack time ...

Cousin K braving the cold water ...

And then the storms rolled in ...

And the torrential rains ...
