Today, Xander and I headed out for an adventure. Aunt Kelly had Sawyer, and Connor was at the lake with Grandma and Grandpa for a few weeks. So we got dressed in swimwear and shorts, loaded up a cooler, and headed out to Stoner Creek in nearby Paris. We had called ahead to reserve two kayaks for the afternoon.
Xander had been in a canoe with other people before, but never on his own. It was a quiet, low current section of the creek, and I thought he could learn. Ever the athlete, he picked it up in a matter of minutes.
A little back and forth until he got the hang of it ...
And he LOVED the train bridge just past the golf course ...
Say "cheese" and go under the stopped train ...
Getting a little tired, but pushing on (and amusing the residents along the bank who are hearing our back and forth about how much further we're going to go) ...
Seeing a turtle on sunning on the log ...
Xander leading the way (back to the launch, of course) ...
And back under the train bridge we go ... a fun day on the water!
