This year's condo had the really fun addition of bunk beds in a small little room right off the front door. Grandma and Grandpa jokingly said we could put the twins there. We decided a trip to the ER would not be fun for our vacation, and Xander would surely take us there. The first time he went in there, he scaled to the top of the ladder and climbed right up. He was in there every chance he could get, just going up and down. Our little climber.
Lucky for us, Connor fell in love with the bunk beds the moment that he saw them, and slept on the top bunk all week. Unfortunately, Mommy drew the bottom bunk. However, that turned out better than Daddy's choice - the queen size bed in the guest bedroom, where we put the twins on an air mattress. At least Connor slept in until after 8 a.m. every day (sometimes even closer to 9 a.m.).
Daddy didn't get quite so lucky. Let's just say the little guys have had a rough sleeping week. Whether it was Sawyer or Xander, one or both of them were awake at odd hours and often never went back to sleep - sometimes as early at 3 a.m., sometimes 5 a.m. and sometimes 6 a.m. - but never any later!
We love vacation and visiting with Grandma and Grandpa, but we're going to be happy to get the boys back home and try to get them back into some kind of regular sleeping schedule. At least at home, we have our own room and they can't escape until we're ready to let them up!
Oh well, perhaps their lack of sleep will make tonight's drive home more peaceful. We're leaving around bedtime and driving all night - our preferred method of travel with little people. Not that the drive down was that bad (it really wasn't, surprisingly enough), but it should be a lot quieter, if you know what I mean. Mr. Chatterbox is as tired as his little brothers, and we're hopeful he will sleep, too! Wish us luck!
