Hard Life Club

We often joke that Connor has a really hard life ... as in, a really charmed life. So his hard life continued over Spring Break this year. Grammy invited Connor along for a trip to Disney. It started with an amazing airplane ride (something he's always wanted to do, but hadn't done yet). And then they checked into their hotel at Disney. And then they started exploring the Magic Kingdom, the water parks, and Disney Town. Lots of fun rides, water rides, legos, good food and exploring in just a few days.

Have I mentioned it's a hard life?

New Adventures

The flyer came home in the boys' backpacks from school. Sign-ups for Special Olympics Track & Field. We asked Xander if he wanted to run track, and he said "Yes, Xander track!"

And so we've started our next adventure. Every Sunday afternoon we practice at one of the local high school tracks. We exercise and warm-up, then we break into our individual events. Xander started off with the 50m and 100m dash, but eventually switched it up to do the 100m dash and the softball throw. As one of the younger athletes, he's only allowed two events right now.

So we started on a cold, windy day in late March. And we're off and running ...

Snow Boys

Snow Days

Snow. It's pretty for about two hours. Two weeks, not so much. Certainly not in our part of the world where just a little snow shuts down cities and schools. Make it over a foot, and the whole state shuts down. We were out of school for a whole week. The walls started to close in. We had to be creative, since all the kids EVER want to do is have a screen ... movies ... iPads ... PBSKids ...

We managed to limit screen time to a few hours a day, mixing in some old favorites ... board games ... coloring ... Play-Doh ...

Sawyer loves his Play-Doh ...

 Xander loves his crayons (okay, markers) ...

 Connor loves his board games (though not when Daddy wins) ...

 Sawyer does not love being trapped inside (even with all those toys in his room) ...

And Bruno loves his snow!
