Today was fun to watch Xander. While playing in the kids area, he came across a father and son playing an unusual game. They were racing Hot Wheels cars on the pool floor, swimming underwater, and trying to reach the other side first. Xander watched and watched for a long time. The other little boy even said hello and offered to share his cars. And then the father showed him what they were doing and asked him to join them. I wasn't sure if Xander was going to understand, and it took a few tries, but he eventually got the idea and joined them. He played with them for over an hour. As the father and little boy were leaving, I prompted Xander to say "Thanks for letting me play!" - which he quickly did.
Such a fun and unexpected way to spend our day. Xander is usually completely content playing all on his own in the pool, but he also really seemed to enjoy the game and interaction today. Special thanks to that sweet little boy and his amazing father for inviting and encouraging Xander to play, and overlooking that he sometimes cheated to win!
