First there was shopping, but Grandpa and Connor eventually got Grandma away from the stores and back to the race track for another spin. Connor will like his new clothes, of course, but they just can't compare to race cars!
And the evening belonged to Winterfest. If you've never been to the Smoky Mountains during this time, you really should go. Imagine a ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree, only they're pretty much lighting up the whole county. Three cities, and every stretch of road in between, covered with decorations and lights that get bigger and bigger every year.
Tonight was the opening ceremony for Winterfest. That means that Grandma and Connor wandered around Patriot Park while Grandpa stood in line for trolley tickets so they could take one of the first tours of the lights.

It also meant a visit with some reindeer . . .

And even with Santa and Mrs. Claus!
And, of course, the day ended with some splashing in the pool! It's definitely a rough life my son leads.
