So, the end has finally come. I knew it would happen sooner or later, but I just didn't think about it happening so soon.
The four-year old has completely learned to dress himself.
He just hasn't learned how to match.
Yesterday he came downstairs in a bright orange t-shirt with a brown train on it. And of all the shorts to match it, he picked a bright pair of orange shorts, just a shade or two off from the shirt.
It's going to drive his OCD mother a little crazy, though she has so far been able to let it go. At home is one thing. For school, probably not the same thing.
Today, it gets better. Today he's dressed in a nicely matched outfit. He has on a red t-shirt with a monster truck on it, and a pair of blue jeans. Long ones. The weather forecast for today is sunny and hot (above 80). If that were not enough, he's also been sleeping in a pair of long-sleeve pajamas and wakes up sweating because our house is 77 degrees in the summer. He cannot be talked out of them.
Apparently we still need a little work on the seasons and which clothes are appropriate for when.
He loves his new freedom though. Now, he can not only get himself up out of bed (and go potty, thank goodness), but he can also dress himself before he comes downstairs to play.
Some days that's good. Other days, we're probably going to have two outfits a day. Because dirt is apparently attracted to him, and he can't keep it clean in the usual hour that he's downstairs by himself before we come down.
The big boy just keeps getting bigger.
